Brutal Birmingham End - May 2016 Update II

Since my last blog post of the 16th May, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2016/05/brutal-birmingham-end-may-2016-update.html, the demolition of the former Birmingham Central Library has reached a milestone with the facade facing Centenary Square literally cut in half,  http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/watch-incredible-pictures-show-birmingham-11381376.  The cut has revealed views not seen for over 40 years with the Big Brum clock tower of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery visible and an indication of the view promised by the Paradise redevelopment.

More than 30,000 cubic metres of concrete - enough to fill 12 Olympic-sized swimming pools - will be crushed, half of which will be re-used on site.
Construction of the first phase of Paradise, which will comprise two office buildings, together with the enhancement of Chamberlain Square, is due to begin in mid-2016.

The following photos show the progress and the cutting through of the facade as the total demolition of the former library draws closer.
