No longer hidden Birm(in)gham

After last years hugely successful Hidden Birmingham exhibition, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/hidden-birmingham.html, the Birmingham Post recently provided further insights into the hidden secrets of Birmingham ahead of a new exhibition.

The recent supplement in the Birmingham Post which can be accessed online at: http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/all-about/hidden-spaces

Following the opening of the former Curzon Street Station last year this year's exhibition has moved to the former Municipal Bank on Broad Street.  The former bank was last opened in 2013 when two events used the space to reveal the magical charm of the building, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/banking-planets-universe-of-sound.html

The exhibition will use the magnificent banking hall and associated offices to show photographs and videos of 25 of Birmingham's hidden treasures, http://www.hidden-spaces.co.uk/eventsmain/2015/4/15/9qy1tij0fpufabk1w09k3qyv186hkehttp://www.birminghampost.co.uk/business/creative/hidden-spaces-birmingham-municipal-bank-9455341

The exhibition accompanies a series of events with tours and talks offering an insight into the hidden sights of Birmingham and a chance to see into Severn Street Masonic Temple, the Victoria Law Courts, http://www.hidden-spaces.co.uk/eventsmain/2015/6/20/open-day-at-victoria-law-courts, and win a chance to tour the tunnels under New Street Station, http://www.hidden-spaces.co.uk/eventsmain/2015/6/19/tour-of-new-street-tunnels

The tunnel that links the Mailbox to New Street Station was used for mail that was sorted at the former sorting office and has most recently been seen in the BBC series The Game.  It was opened in 2007 for a fascinating art event as part of architecture week, http://www.birminghamitsnotshit.co.uk/2007/06/tunnel-of-love.htmlhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham/content/image_galleries/tunnel_vision_fierce_gallery.shtml.

I took the photo below looking towards the light that was illuminating the end of the tunnel, close to New Street Station.
