Swimming army
Moseley Road Baths needs you as photographer Attilio Fiumarella, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/a-story-told-in-pictures.html, seeks to enlist a swimming army as the finale of his photographic project "The Swimmers". Attilio aims to immortalise 100 swimmers in the Gala Pool as a Terracotta Army acting as a form of dissent against the pool's planned closure in 2015. The Birmingham Post recently featured the pool amongst buildings the Civic Society had invited suggestions for new uses for, featuring amongst five city buildings with an uncertain future. The Re-imagine competition saw ideas from designers and the public on new ways to regenerate the buildings which includes Moseley Road Baths and the former Birmingham Central Library, http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/news/regional-affairs/central-hall-vision-wins-birmingham-7326652
Two competing nominations saw APEC architects turn the venue into a swimming and music venue retaining swimming in the pool currently in use and turning the gala pool into a concert venue.
Meanwhile Intervention Architecture showed the restored Gala pool featuring as the crown jewel of the restored baths.
