The show will grow on - Kings Heath Garden Show

It's almost as changeable as the weather as to what is happening with Birmingham's Annual Gardening Show.  Following an announcement earlier this year that the event would return to Kings Heath Park following the move to the City Centre as part of Artsfest in 2011 it was recently announced that the event had been called off due to recent weather causing Kings Heath park to be waterlogged.

A gardening show has been held in Kings Heath for about 30 years, but last year it was cancelled by Birmingham City Council because of costs and declining visitor numbers.

Kings Heath groups petitioned the council to get the event reinstated in the park and it led to the organisations receiving a council grant of £20,000 to run the show themselves.

The event taking place on 1 and 2 September will now take place at Bordesley Green Allotments following residents, societies and businesses joining forces to rescue the event.

Very disapointing to find the Kings Heath Garden show is to be cancelled.I have been to the show in previous years when it has rained, paths were suitable prepared to allow people to walk around.
I believe a 20,000 pound grant has been allocated, could not part of this be used to allow preparation of the site? Rain is always going to be likely each year in September,I think it is a very poor show of the organisers.Kings Heath is a nice location but I will not travel to Bordesley Green.
