Lottery win squares Kings Heath

The Birmingham Post has reported that the final phase of the All Saints redevelopment in Kings Heath, the tree-lined village square, Square heart for Kings Heath, can go ahead after winning lottery funding, Kings Heath to get village square.

Kings Heath will see a new square built near the All Saints Centre, with plans to host outdoor church services, music concerts, arts events and exhibitions in the new space. http://www.birminghampost.net/news/newsaggregator//tm_headline=kings-heath-to-get-village-square%26method=full%26objectid=26142101%26siteid=65233-name_page.html

The project, one of nine flagship projects across the UK named in the Community Spaces Scheme, managed by Groundwork UK, received a grant of £430,000.

Last year the plan to breathe new life into Kings Heath town centre looked to be in trouble, with uncertainty over the Lottery bid and an influential local councillor suggesting he would vote against controversial new designs. Now at least the largest slice of funding has been secured for the scheme.http://www.aboutmyarea.co.uk/West-Midlands/Birmingham/B14/News/Local-News/159392-Lottery-bonanza-for-new-Kings-Heath-town-centre-square

The sketches look really nice, I look forward to seeing if it lives up to our now high expectations.
