Birmingham REP's His Dark Materials - Guardian Pick of the Week

Saturday's Guardian for the 14th March named Birmingham REP's production of His Dark Materials as one of it's four Theatre Picks of the Week, http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2009/mar/12/the-price-his-dark-materials. The other three picks are Nottingham Playhouse's production of The Price, Oxford Playhouse's production of Andromaque and Leicester's Curve Theatre production of The Moon The Moon.

The Birmingham REP production is showing from Saturday 14th March to 18th April.

The following Theatre preview is from Lyn Gardner of The Guardian.

The Golden Compass, the movie adaptation of the first part of Philip Pullman's great trilogy that begins with Northern Lights, was a bit of a disappointment, but Nicholas Wright's stage version of the novels is much more the real thing. Performed over two nights, it offers an opportunity for puppetry and lots of other kinds of theatrical inventiveness to tell the story of Lyra and Will and their encounters with witches, armoured bears, cliff-ghasts and parallel worlds. Rachel Kavanaugh and Sarah Esdaile direct a cast of 25 led by Amy McAllister.
