City of 1000 Trades to help lead UK recovery

newbusiness.co.uk and startups.co.uk have reported that Birmingham has the largest concentration of UK shareholder-directors, those business leaders who represent the country's entreprenurial community, 'who will be the most significant contributors to the UK's return to economic health following the recent financial markets crisis'.

KDB who studied the records of 2.5m companies found Birmingham had the highest density followed by West London and Brighton. With less than half of the UK economy's turnover created by large firms, with 43% of the nations turnover represented by companies with fewer than 100 employees, economic dynamism and entreprenurialism will offer the best route out of the economic troubles.

Economists looking beyond the current troubled times towards a period of recovery will be very interested in where the most dynamic and wealth creating firms are likely to be located in the country," said Matt Boot, chief analyst at KDB
