Bright future for Birmingham's young people

Regen.net, http://www.regen.net, and Children and Young People Now, http://www.cypnow.co.uk, have reported on the approval of a multi-million pound redevelopment of Birmingham YMCA on Reservoir Road, Erdington. The £13.5 million development will include 83 self-contained flats for 16 and 17 year olds. The development will also include a music studio, gym, meeting rooms and chill-out spaces together with facilities for the general public such as a nursery.

The YMCA hopes young residents will be able to integrate themselves
into the community through paid and voluntary work at the centre. Work starts on
the redevelopment next year and will continue for up to 27 months. http://www.cypnow.co.uk/news/ByDiscipline/Youth-Work/login/865017/
